Steel Panther brings Raunchy show to Seattle

I have had the privilege of seeing Steel Panther several times before. As the band has become more famous, the shows just get crazier and crazier. The Showbox Sodo was packed on this night and the ladies were out in force, just like Steel Panther likes. If you have only heard a little about Steel Panther, that is a shame. They are known for their outlandishly explicit lyrics on sex, drugs, booze and rock & roll. It is supposed to be fun and is quite entertaining. If you go into it with an open mind and looking to have a great time, Steel Panther is just what you need. If you are easily offended, best to watch re-runs of Sesame Street. The other thing Steel Panther does not get enough credit for is they are all awesome musicians and the vocals are great. Michael Star (vocals), Satchel (guitar), Lexxi Foxx (bass) and Stix Zadinia (drums) have absolutely mastered the 80s metal sound.

As always, they came out with high energy and tore right into “Supersonic Sex Machine“. The crowd was immediately in a frenzy. One of the best parts of a Steel Panther show is listening to them talk to each other and the crowd. Not only are they great musicians, they are comedians as well. Their interaction and how unbelievably offensive it is makes the show hilarious. Then there is the part of the show that encourages women in the crowd to take their tops off. They have mastered this, and lot of girls are happy to oblige. By song three this show had completely gone off the rails. Speaking of song three, that would be “Asian Hooker“. Steel Panther of course found a pretty Asian woman to come up on stage and dance with them in all sorts of provocative ways. Once again she was happy to do it, and the smile never left her face.

During “Girl From Oklahoma” they got two of their favorite ladies from the crowd to come up on stage and put on quite a show, sometimes topless. The dirtier Steel Panther got, the more the crowd and the girls ate it up. Next we moved on to “17 Girls In A Row“. They brought a lot of women on stage for this song and the debauchery continued. There were so many topless girls on stage it could put the strip club up the street out of business. The crowd ate it up, the great metal music continued to play, and the show marched on. There was so much going on, it was hard to take it all in.

The final three songs of the night are some of their very best, “Death To All But Metal“, “Community Property“, and “Fuck All Day (Party All Night)“. This was such a strong way to end a set. The crowd was going absolutely crazy at this point. I think Steel Panther could have gone all night. Sadly it was time for the show to come to an end, but like every time I have seen them, they put on an incredible show! This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you love great 80s metal and a hilarious show you should not miss Steel Panther next time they are in town.
