Lamb of God to Unleash Fury of Metal as Part of Slayers Farewell Tour

One of the shows I am really looking forward to in the next few weeks is Lamb of God’s show as part of Slayer’s farewell tour in the United States. If you are not familiar with Lamb of God, you should be. These heavy / thrash metal masters have been delivering some serious raw metal since their first album “New American Gospel” from 2000. Before they were Lamb of God, they were Burn the Priest, but changed their name due to some line up changes and they did not want to be confused with a satanic band of the same name. Below is their first single from that album “Black Label”.

You can really feel that industrial thrash metal sound that tears you up inside. The song has a great groove to it.

One of Lamb of God’s most successful albums was 2004 “Ashes of the Wake”. This was their fourth release and the band really began to come into its own as a dominate force in metal. The album debuted at #27 on Billboards top 200 albums chart. Guitar World called it the 49th greatest guitar album of all time! This is an absolute classic that delivers awesome song after awesome song. There is not a bad song on this album. Check out Laid to Rest below.

As you can tell from the video, this album is a must have for true metal fans.

One of the amazing things that makes this band so tight and great to listen to is their longevity. John Campbell (Bass), Chris Adler (Drum) and Mark Morton (Lead Guitar) started the band in 1994. Morton took some time off to pursue his master’s degree, but rejoined in 1997. Randy Blythe (Vocals) joined in 1997 and the cornerstone of Lamb of God had been born. With the final addition in 1999 of Willie Adler (Rhythm Guitar), who is Chris’s younger brother, Lamb of God was complete. Together they have formed a lethal combination, selling 2 million plus albums. Their complete catalog consists of eight studio albums, one live album, one compilation album and three DVDs. They have also been nominated for a Grammy five times! That is an incredible achievement for a metal band.
