Shania Twain Brings Stunning Show to Tacoma Dome

Global country superstar Shania Twain opened her “Shania Now” North American tour in Tacoma on Thursday night. She literally walked through the crowd on her way to the stage to get the show started. As you would expect it was quite a visually spectacular show. Shania literally flew around the crowd, rose in and out of the middle of the stage and had more visuals then I could describe. She had a huge stair case that took her up very high on the stage. There was nothing missing in this all out big arena show, right down to huge visual screens all over the place. No matter where you were sitting you could get a good up-close view of the action.

The show was a pop-country show that leaned more towards pop than country. There were times that good ole country sound came out during songs like Any Man of Mine and Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under. Shania donned a cowboy hat and some red-hot boots, and the music had that country twang to it. The crowd sang along with every word and was having a really good time.

Shania easily spoke with the crowd all night and was a delight to listen to. Telling stories about why she wrote certain songs, or just talking about her long career. She tried to keep it lighthearted and fun for everyone. This tour is supporting her new album “Now”. One song that really stood out was Soldier. The video screens showing scenes from the movie “Thank You for Your Service” that featured the song. She dedicated it to the men and women who serve, and this was very well received.

Some other classics that really got the crowd going were, Don’t be Stupid (You Know I Love You) and That Don’t Impress Me Much. Shania showed off her sultry voice and her famous sass during these songs as she strutted around the stage entertaining the crowd. She had dancers also working with her on a lot of songs and the show was well choreographed. Another classic that sounded just perfect and took the show down a notch was You’re Still the One. It was breath taking and once again the crowd roared their approval.

There were so many hits throughout the night, it is amazing Shania has only released 5 studio albums. She had such an impact on the modern country movement. The number of hits, she had from her first four albums is staggering. She has had seven number one singles and twenty-seven top 40 singles. Along the way she has sold over 100 million albums worldwide. When you examine those numbers, you realize how big of a star she is. Those are truly remarkable achievements.

As the show came towards its grand conclusion, we got three huge hits to finish the night. (If You’re Not in It for Love) I’m Outta Here!, Man! I feel Like a Woman and Rock this Country! It was a wonderful end to a very entertaining evening. Shania is charming, sweet and a great entertainer. It is fair to say everyone in attendance had a great time. This was the opening night of Shania’s tour, so you have plenty of chances to catch a show near you soon. Don’t miss the chance to catch one spectacular night of music.
